http://forum.osdev.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=23025 OSDev is forever spewing slander. LoseThos identity maps all physical memory and never touches page tables afterward. It is obviously optimal performance-wise. Just remember -- for every memory access with paging enabled, there are 4-5 memory accesses because it has to access 3-4 levels of page table memory. We were taught to count memory accesses to tell how fast code is, so you have 1/4 the memory accesses without paging. How do you like that |
