Post Re: binary floppy image of my OS
I boot it... it asked me to give it a password... I gave it one... then I typed 'ls' and it wanted to reboot... after the reboot it asked me for the password... I gave it to it... I got to the JOHN's KERNEL prompt but I didn't know what program to run... when I type 'ls' it wants to reboot..

its still an alpha kernel but how does it feel???... pretty good huh... when I finished the Y1OS kernel it was a pretty good feelin even thou it only ran a hello world program...

i forgot add supported shell commands:
mreset resets the memory system
chpass changes your password
exit closes file handles and makes sure its safe to shutoff the power -- will be more needed when it is a serous kernel
i have not wrote a program to give a directory listing yet and i have no idea why it askedd to reboot
the included programs are:
line.kex draws a graphics mode line on screen
jbells.kex seems to just crash the kernel - dont even remember what it is suppose to do
also the backspace key does not work

yes it did feel good when i first booted it and saw the prompt.
also the reason there is no ls is because i cannot make the kernel call
to query the filesystem

When I went to run this in my VM, it told me that it was not a proper 1.44 Floppy. can you make sure its becoming a 1.44mb image? thanks. i would really like to look to see what you have.

Just an FYI, there is a bug in your command lookup. For instance, if i do "ls" it does "mreset" and "a" does "exit". I can tell you it's because your checking and when it fails you are somehow returning the current iterator's position. So, I would check into that if I were you. :-)

Otherwise, nice. And I am running it in MS Virtual PC 2007. (Drawing doesn't work because of the drivers that are required).
