If you only care about the disk geometry and you're at the boot loader stage, all that info is passed to you by the BIOS. Otherwise, I'd read the ATA/ATAPI documents (SATA and SCSI drives usually have ATA compatibility modes). Cheers, Bogdan |

Their is alway the way of opening up the computer and read the hard-drive label. It contains all the information about sector, tracks, heads etc. Some hard drive brands have better details than others Patrick V |
