I'd say it's probably better to develop your project as a hobby since that's what most others are doing. Just continue to learn and grow and then you can discuss creative ideas with others on the forum.

As you've seen, response to most OS projects is low since they are all very basic in nature. OS dev is all about learning, not about developing a Linux/Windows rival. Just enjoy the experience
